Depending on how you use it, Six Sigma offers two optional processes: the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) and the DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, and Verify). The first used to improve an already existing business management strategy, most appropriately the strategy the company uses currently, and the latter for designing or creating a strategy to be used or produced. Whether you’d want to improve your company’s business strategy, or for its quality control division, the DMAIC proves to be effective in enhancing what you seek. By simply following the executive meaning of the DMAIC method, you’ll be able to upgrade your strategy to work more smoothly and improve how things are run within your company. Define for example, is a step where your Six Sigma team identifies the goal and objective of why you’re applying the Six Sigma way. If it is for your business management strategy’s enhancement, identify what you expect to achieve in the end. Measure allows you to collect necessary information involving data that will be used for comparison at the end of the process itself. Once that had been decided, you will carry on with the solution thus Improve or improvements will be made which is what this next step is all about. Apply all the necessary solutions and verify its effects. If you’ve dramatically come up with better results as per talked about, then you can move on to the next step. Control: which also implies to the maintenance the Six Sigma team needs to do to keep the improved process working effectively. The results from the improvement and the previous data collected should be compared and reevaluated. When you’ve all approved of the changes, all that’s left to do is to maintain that process until the next scheduled or when again it is time to upgrade what you’ve come up with in the present.
