How To Make A Wall Rosary

The Holy Rosary is one of the most important tools in the Christian world. It is used by Marian devotees in their meditation in the lives of Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The term rosary is derived from the Latin word rosarium which means a rose garden or a bunch of rose flowers. It got its name so from Mary who is often miraculously associated with the rose flower.

It was noted that during her assumption to heaven, rose flowers were mysteriously found on her sickbed. The rosary is of Marian distinction. According to Christian dogma, it was handed personally to Saint Dominic by the Virgin Mary herself.

As the rosary became incorporated in the Christian life and culture, many works of arts and decorations are inspired by this religious item. One beautiful product of man’s creativity is the wall rosary. Wall rosaries serve for devotion and decoration. In making this kind of rosary, we will use larger and more beautiful beads.

We need good materials for the cruciform and centerpiece and medallions for them to be very visible when we worship or devote our prayers to God. It is recommended to have a standard length of 40 and 78 inches. For the sake of discussion, we will create a five decade rosary. If you want to create wall rosaries, just innovate the designs depending on the kind of rosary you want to create.

Prepare the materials. You will use a cruciform, a special medallion, and 59 beads. Be sure that you crucifix has a small hole at the top to thread in the string. Your string should be thin but durable enough to hold the weight of the cruciform, medallion and the beads.

Make a Loop first, by threading in the Cruciform. You can use different kinds of crosses according to your taste. Some forms of crosses /used in a rosary are celtic, iconic, peace dove, San Damiano and Latin. Use a length of string that is long enough to hold the beads, it is recommended to use a lengthy cord as you can always trim the excess length after. Place the cruciform so that it is at the center among the beads.

Secure the crucifix by tying a knot just above the cruciform. Make another knot just an inch away from your first knot. Thread in a Pater bead onto the top, followed by a knot to secure placement, then follow this with three Ave beads, followed again by a knot and a Pater bead.

Create two knots above the last Pater bead. Allow the string to separate into two cords to create a loop for your chain containing the beads of the five decades. Have each knot for an Ave bead to secure placement.

Thread in a Pater bead to each cord, secure with a knot at the top. Repeat the Ave with another knot and follow the steps in making the Pater and Ave beads. Always remember to create a knot for each bead to secure placement.

Make the final knot very tightly to leave a clear end. You can leave a cord hanging loose by 4 inches to create a decorative hanger for your rosary.

If you are using deep-color beads, contrast it with a deep color cord. Also, use a different size or shape beads for Pater beads.
