The next step would be to call the companies in your list and get their addresses and other contact information as well as their license numbers. With those license numbers you then search the internet for information like un-renewed license, complaints, etc.

It may take a bit of your time to research these moving companies but being careful is still a lot better than having to cope with the results of carelessness later on
