Why Learn Hindi? Here are the ReasonsFirst, Hindi is a language of wisdom, poetry, philosophy, mystery, and song. For more than a thousand years after its emergence, the language has truly contributed to further enrich and expand the Asian world across literary, linguistic, and scientific fields. In fact, Hindi has spread rapidly that it is currently the world’s second most spoken language, following Mandarin. Native speakers of Hindi view it as among the most beautiful and most emotionally expressive of all languages that people could ever learn. Thus, Hindi speakers could be able to communicate effectively in poetry as well as in commerce. Second, the use of Hindi as a foreign language has spread throughout the world. Its speakers are spread across the globe---in India, Germany, New Zealand, Nepal, South Africa, Singapore, Yemen, Mauritius, and the United States. It is estimated that there are about 366 million speakers of the language worldwide. Urdu, Pakistan’s official language, could easily be understood by Hindi speakers because of the obvious and practical similarities in vocabularies. Hindi also has direct and logical influences from other major languages, including English, Portuguese, Arabic, Turkish, and Dravidian. Third, Hindi has truly gained global significance. Film fanatics would be delighted to directly understand what are called as ‘Bollywood’ films, the second most prolific in the world following Hollywood. Through the years, Indian music has also become increasingly influential within mainstream music not just in the United States but almost throughout the rest of the world. You should be aware that many Indian traditional songs and hymns have already been adapted and integrated into songs released by popular recording artists like Missy Elliot, Sting, Shania Twain, Redman, and Madonna. Do not be surprised to eventually realize that the ability to speak and write Hindi could help you better understand Jay-Z and other popular music icons. Fourth, in sciences, commerce, business, digital media, and information systems, the growth of India has become so evident that it has emerged as a viable world economy, spurring investor interest within the region. Companies that eye operational and sales expansion in the South Asia region are mostly recruiting people who are familiar about Indian culture and who could articulately and fluently speak and write Hindi. The Hindi-speaking population is an important global market segment, making it a usual and viable target of most global businesses. It would truly be your advantage if you would be able to speak and write the language. Whether you plan to migrate to India or not, in the end, you would surely find your decision to learn Hindi as an important and beneficial one. Now is the best time to start learning this important language. Comments |
