You can also purchase CD decks, which plays CDs instead of vinyl records. This is far easier to operate and the CDs are much more durable than vinyl records. Lastly, you can get the DJ Controller, which are basically used with laptops where you will be able to mix songs that are already in digital format or MP3. You will also need a mixer. This is where the decks are plugged in to. Basically, this will allow you to control how loud each deck is. Mixers will have different features. For example, it can change the sound being played, such as reducing the bass frequencies or increasing the treble frequencies. The effects unit is another piece of equipment you will want as a DJ. Connected to the back of the mixer, you will be able to hear what you are playing more clearly with the monitors and make sure that you are really providing your audience with good quality music that they can dance to. Lastly, you will need headphones. Unless you want everybody to hear your attempts in mixing the music, you have to get a decent pair of headphones. This is also connected to the mixer and this will allow you to hear what you are doing or when you are mixing the song.
