Alright, so there are a couple of things that you should bear in mind.
First of all, to be able to join the team means that you must be competitive. It takes a soccer player to be equipped with the ample skills and talent to get himself enlisted in any of the soccer divisions in college.
You should be the athletic type. Soccer is both physically and mentally demanding. Things work in such a fast pace so if you are not fast and quick, you can't be considered an asset in the team.
However, there are myths that circulate among the soccer college team aspirants. You should know these things or else you will miss such a wonderful and rewarding opportunity.
Alright, you should be conscious that there are thousands of high school students who want to get a secured post in their chosen college's soccer team. After all, if this sport is their cup of tea, no one can stop them from dreaming. The good news is that there are lots of colleges around the country which open their portals for the recruitment of new players. But as the procedure gets tougher, here are a couple of myths that need to be cleared up for your benefit.
Myth #1. Scholarships are solely reserved for the elite level players.
It is a fact that the blue chip or those players who are considered to be in the elite circle can get faster and better access to the scholarships. Well, it is part of their privilege of being in the said team. Yet it doesn't mean that only they have the right to apply for the scholarship. Be confident that you can beat the other aspirants! After all, there are several colleges and universities that provide the scholarship to the worthy recruits.
Myth #2. Coaches will track you.
Obviously, nobody will take time off to find you if they don't even know you exist. Market and promote yourself as early as possible. Come up with a short film of your rehearsal and send it to different coaches.
Myth #3. Coaches don't like to take you in.
There is basically no college soccer coach who will be blind and deaf to the applications sent to him. These college teams need players. So, don't have second thoughts in applying.
Academy sports are integral activities in colleges and universities. They are always given enough time and focus as they help hone the students' personalities towards the better.
